Summer in Full Swing: What’s Still Ahead on the Veltrusy Slalom Course?

Summer is in full swing, and all slalom paddlers are working hard to peak for the final stretch of the paddling season. Here in Veltrusy, we’re certainly not standing on the sidelines—we’ll be hosting two key events that will determine this year’s champions and offer thrilling action for all whitewater slalom fans.

August 30–31: Jaroslav Froňek Sr. Memorial
Traditionally the most important race of the season in terms of ranking points, this event plays a decisive role at the top of the slalom leaderboard. In past years, anyone aiming for overall victory had to conquer the Veltrusy Memorial—and this year will be no different. Expect an electric atmosphere, intense battles on the water, and—as always—great refreshments, cold beer, tasty food, and a friendly vibe.

September 13: Czech Youth Championships
The highlight of the season for young athletes. The best juniors from across the country will compete for the national title. Among them will be our home paddlers, ready to challenge more experienced rivals and prove that the future of Czech slalom is in good hands.

September 14: Czech Junior Championships in Kayak Cross
A new and highly spectator-friendly discipline where strength, speed, and strategy matter just as much as technique. Kayak cross brings dynamic action and unexpected twists—an ideal way to wrap up an adrenaline-filled season.
